How Early Childhood Education Access Shapes Long-Term Learning Outcomes

Research on early childhood development consistently shows that children who receive quality learning experiences before kindergarten enter school better prepared, perform better in early grades, and sustain those advantages throughout their education. Yet access to pre-K programs remains deeply unequal across income levels and geographic areas. This article reviews the evidence and discusses what meaningful access to early childhood education would actually require.
